BUFFALO, N.Y., FEBRUARY 8, 2008 - Travelers who visit AAA.com to book their hotel accommodations receive the lowest rate 69 percent of the time, according to a recent survey conducted by PhoCusWright. The survey compared publicly available rates on AAA.com to Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, and AARP.
"While no site can claim to offer the best rate every time, visitors to AAA.com are much more likely to find a better rate than visitors to other leading travel websites," said Tom Chestnut, President/CEO for AAA Western and Central New York.
The December 2007 survey revealed that AAA.com offered the lowest rates 69 percent of the time based on standard double occupancy rooms at 93 partner hotels, followed by AARP 14 percent of the time, Travelocity with 13 percent, Orbitz with 10 percent, and Expedia closing the survey with nine percent. Percentages include same-rate results.
The online audit reviewed rates for leisure travel to top destinations for the same dates of stay at 300 AAA Diamond Rated properties throughout the U.S. and Canada. It excluded corporate, military, government, and industry discount rates.
